hey all!! Life update!!

1) Just got back from Florida- went for 10 days with the fam, and even though I had to do a lot of school work while I was there I really enjoyed myself.

I used to think I hated flying but the flights were SO GOOD this time- we had connecting flights both ways, and the views were absolutely spectacular. I'd never seen anything like it on a plane before, coming back there were so many clouds that it looked like an ocean of them that we were sailing over, with the sun right there and so close - it was just magical, that's the only way I can describe it! So I'm glad to know that I've mostly gotten over that fear!

bought TONS of stuff - dresses, shoes, bags....tons! Will maybe post pictures soon. :)

2) While I was over there I watched the entirety of Castle - NEW FAVORITE SERIES. It's absolutely wonderful, Nathan Fillion is SO good in it!!!

3) I also watched all of JONAS - I was surpisingly REALLY impressed with the boys, it's made me love them again! Nick especially, has GREAT comedic timing, and I love the Joe/Stella storyline - Chelsea Staub is quite talented!! And even though the show has no laugh track I found myself laughing out loud at many points. I dunno, I was just super impressed!

4) On a chronicles of narnia kick, can't wait for Star Trek to come out on tuesday, and can't wait for Fantastic Mr. Fox!!!

okay WOW so the last time I posted was 5 WEEKS AGO. HOLY SHIT THAT IS RIDICULOUS. I have been reading everyone's stuff and tons of fic and keeping up with my picspam journals but I haven't been inspired at all to make icons or post - I think part of the reason for this is because the application in firefox that kept lj up permanently as a tab on my browser no longer works, so when I open up firefox now all I see is my homepage and I'm too fucking lazy to type 'www.livejournal.com' into the url bar. I know. it's sad.

HOWEVER - I come back with a pretty picspam!picspammy's new challenge this month is called 'something different', and I decided to picspam 4 perfect disney moments, because I've never done a disney spam before and I seriously invest a ridiculously large amount of time in my life to the walt disney corporation. I love Disney films and soundtracks and it was super fun doing this picspam, even if I should have been doing essays instead, haha.

Alright, so! I finally watched the second episode of glee and the premiere of the vampire diaries, and here are my thoughts, behind the cut for spoilers. Long explanations of why I liked them follow, lol.

**ETA: only glee, as my interwebs is being stupid. Vampire Diaries to follow!

1) there is something I find SO INCREDIBLY OFF-PUTTING about Anna Paquin and the character Sookie in general. Sookie (or Sucky, as much of the fandom seems to call her a la Bill's pronunciation of her name, lol) is actually almost as bad as Bella. The characters are such mary-sues I can't get over it. The basic character ark for each of them is this:

- totally normal girl, never had any romantic interest before
- she comes to new town/vampires come to town and immediately take an interest in her. Hope is borne in all the hearts of readers because guess what - SHE'S JUST LIKE YOU!!
- even though she's totally normal, clumsy, not especially smart, makes stupid decisions,etc, she is also pretty, with a special ability that NO ONE ELSE HAS!! Sookie can read minds and resist glamor, and Bella is able to shield her mind somehow from Edward's mind reading abilities.
- the vampire who loves her will be fiercely overprotective! LIKE SUPER DUPER OVERPROTECTIVE!! He will want her to listen to everything he says, but the girl is a WOMAN okay, and she makes her OWN decisions! The fact remains that all the decisions she makes on her own are fucking retarded and bring everyone into trouble.
- both girls inspire jealousy with another man who is a direct opposite of the first vampire! They'll fight it out for her!! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!

...bore. Jessica and Pam and Godric and Eric are so much better characters than stupid Sucky and Bill, just like Edward and Bella are the stupidest characters in the twilight books, as compared to actual interesting people like Jacob and Alice, etc.

2) it's weird to me that considering how Vampire stories are so often taken as metaphors for the gay community, True Blood especially, both True Blood and Twilight were written by conservative religious women.

3) cranky and tired and sad at the state of health care reform in the US and just life in general is not what it should be today. sigh.
